We've recently begun our expansion down the West Coast, starting in Seattle, then down to Portland. Next stop? San Francisco. Once you've experienced it, it's difficult not to fall in love with the many beauties of the northern half of the Golden State. There may not be a single place in the world with a more impressive variety of landscape, pastimes, and people than the greater Bay Area. Whether you live in the area or are looking for a destination for your wedding or corporate retreat, Northern California is the place to be! Mountains? Ocean? Historic sites? Wine country? It's all here! Since this can be a bit overwheming, here's a short breakdown of few of our favorite unique venue ideas, that maybe you haven't thought of.

Winery (Featured: Chateau St. Jean)

Napa and Sonoma Counties have an amazing plethora of winery venues to offer, many of whom host private events. From European charm to modern style, the list to choose from is long! Many wineries offer a choice of both indoor and outdoor spaces, with an amazing variety of food and, of course, wine, to choose from. The reason why we love Chateau St. Jean? The breathtaking gardens, convenient location, friendly staff, and their amazing Cinq Cepages!

California State Park (featured: Jack London State Historic Park)

Northern California boasts an amazing array of state parks, and many of them accommodate weddings and other events! Many state parks feature unique facilities, both indoor and out. Jack London is out of the city traffic, offering easy access and parking for guests. This made our pick due to its amazing combination of historic charm and affordability!

Museum (featured: California Academy of Sciences)

When planning a wedding or event, most people's default reaction isn't necessarily to think of a museum. We would be remiss to leave out this unique category of venue, however, as the Bay Area has many spectacular options to choose from! Many museums offer unique, remarkable facilities, combined with an educational aspect! For a memorable event in the middle of Golden Gate Park, look no further than the Calfornia Academy of Sciences. With fourteen settings to choose from within the venue, any type of event can find a perfect fit.

What better way to experience San Francisco than taking to the sea? There are many vendors to choose from for an on-the-bay event, affording gorgeous views the Golden Gate, the wharf, Angel Island, and the Marin Headlands. For variety's sake, Hornblower offers a wide selection of beautiful floating venues to choose from!
