What’s keeping you up at night?
It’s a question we’re rarely asked. If we were honest though, our answers would range from medical issues and financial struggles to broken relationships or problems at work and so much more.
When my brother and I set out to take Snapbar from part-time side hustle to full-fledged company, our earliest stresses (the things that kept us up at night) meant we spent hours and hours discussing them.
Out of that hard, sometimes painful, work…emerged the care and core values that shape our company and culture today.
It should be common knowledge, at this point, that when employees are treated well and cared for, they will be more productive, engaged and loyal. So employee care is obviously a key part of any business’ success and it will have a significant impact on business outcomes.
What’s talked about less is why employee care is a healthy and good thing to do regardless of business outcome. Yes, employee care also encourages strong morale and team spirit. And yes, when employees are respected, have their voice heard and are given opportunities to learn and grow, they are more likely to be happier and more productive in their work.
But what’s really special is that a positive and caring environment can lead to more employees feeling valued, which leads to a stronger team spirit and bonding among colleagues. This helps to create a culture of collaboration, trust and mutual respect, which further goes beyond boosting team performance and driving business success - it creates friendships and relationships that matter, can last, and impact the people long after the business is closed.
After taking care of our team, we focus on taking care of our clients.
To do this, we’ve developed core values that influence everything the operating procedures, email responses, policies, contracts, marketing & sales strategies, hiring decisions and more that our team follows in order to grow and provide great service.
Today, we’ve turned our values into posters that we display in our offices to remind us why we do what we do, and why we do it the way we do it.
